2017.10.29:   Sumi-e Painting at Japanese Cultural Center 日本文化会館 Sunday, Oct 29th-Nov 19th

The Japanese Culture Center – 日本文化会館 has moved the Sumi-e class to the upstairs-more space and light to go with the new curriculum! This 4 week workshop will begin Sunday, Oct 29, and continue each consecutive Sunday (November 5th,12th,19th) from 12:30 pm -2:30 pm. The price for the 4 sessions is $120.00
Sumi-e Painting Japanese ink painting, (sumi-e) is the art of painting using brush (fude), ink (sumi) and thin absorbent “rice-paper” (washi).

Advance at your own pace—you do not need to know how to paint with ink, all levels are welcome, and course materials will be provided.

2017.7.9:  Sumi-e Painting at Japanese Culture Center – 日本文化会館

4 week Sumi-e workshop: Japanese ink painting, (sumi-e) is the art of painting using brush (fude), ink (sumi) and thin absorbent “rice-paper” (washi).

Sunday: July 9, 16, 23, 30 from 12:30 pm -2:30 pm.
The price for the 4 sessions is $120.00

 

The emphasis is on the process! The Class will be introduced to the “Four Treasures” (The ink stick, the ink stone, brush and paper) and each class will begin with a demonstration then guided instruction on how to paint “The Four Gentlemen” (The lessons introduce the student to the four basic strokes groups).

Advanced Students: work at their own pace discovering “idea” paintings.  

  • Beginners:  Advance at your own pace—you do not need to know how to paint with ink, all levels are welcome.Course materials will be provided and there is a 5 student minimum, so please preregister at: info@japaneseculturecenter.com or by calling the office directly (773) 525-3141.
